book 2 in the How To series
Sierra Livingston’s got it bad for her sister’s best friend, Levi Mason—the boy who carries his drumsticks in his pocket, marches with the school’s band, and taps his feet to whatever beat runs through his head. Sierra racks her brain for ways to impress the sexy drummer, but the short skirts and bursting cleavage don’t seem to cut it.
When Sierra gets paired with Levi’s sister, Brea, for a mentorship program, they strike a deal. In exchange for Sierra keeping her mouth shut about Brea ditching the program, Brea lets Sierra dig for more info on Levi to help get the guy of her dreams.
But when Sierra discovers Levi no longer plays the drums, his family has moved into a trailer, and he’s traded in his Range Rover for a baby blue moped, Sierra’s not sure if she can go through with violating his privacy. She’ll have to find the courage to ask him straight out—if he’s willing to let her in—and explore other ways to seduce the school’s band geek.
My Review
5 of 5 stars
How to Seduce a Band Geek was another perfect installment in this fun and flirty series. I ripped through this book and savored every word!
Sierra was a fun and entertaining narrator, and Levi a totally hunky leading man. I liked how Levi especially had some real-life problems, far beyond the realm of typical high school woes. I loved watching their relationship build and grow over the course of the book, and I loved how Sierra stood up for herself when it came to their relationship (and the message that sends to young readers).
For those who’ve read book one, there are some serious fun Zak and Zoe moments in this book. While the story is Levi and Sierra’s, it’s always nice to see some “after the story” moments from one of my favorite couples.
This book, as well as the series as a whole, has some great messages about being true to yourself and finding people who love you for who you are, and not who they want you to be. I don’t want to spoil anything, but I loved the realism of Sierra’s relationship with her best friend Sydney, and I thought the resolution was perfect for the story.
I am curious to know how Levi reacts when he finds out about Brea and Sierra’s deal. The story never went there and I would’ve loved to see that scene played out.
There is some highly suggestive content in this book. Parents, I encourage you to read it yourselves so you can decide if it’s appropriate for your teen readers.
Another slam dunk by the author! Can’t wait for book 3!
