This summer has been insane. I think it’s lasted more like three years, instead of three months?
I am exhausted, haha.
We did manage to have some fun a week or so ago. As an early birthday present for the twins, we went to the Demolition Derby. It’s always a huge hit, and once again it didn’t disappoint! One car lost the rubber on its tire and drove on only the rim for over 30 minutes.
But most of our days have been spent working on the basement. We have a goal to complete it by the end of the month, and that’s meant lots of working until way past bedtime and asking the twins for patience while we do just one more thing.
These kids are awesome. They’ve put up with a lot while we sprint to the finish line on this project, and are always willing to help when we ask them for it.
We’ve finally got all the drywall up, and are working room-by-room on painting as the tape and mudder finishes up each area. Tape, mud, and texturing is the ONLY thing we aren’t doing ourselves on this beast of a project. We have a rambler, so our basement is giant, and it’s taken us a year to get this far.
But in just another 3 or so weeks, we’ll be done with the project. The deadline is actually pretty important, and we really can’t afford to finish later than that, so cross your fingers we have the energy to keep going!
