Marlene had to find the necklace before Emily got home. She shouldn’t have “borrowed” it. She always lost Emily’s stuff. Now Emily was on her way home, and Marlene knew she would notice the missing necklace.
Marlene checked in all the couch cushions. She checked behind the dressers. She even checked in the freezer.
There was only one other possible location—the linen closet. Please be here. Emily would be home any minute. Marlene opened the door and jumped as something heavy fell. A lifeless body sprawled on the floor, blonde hair matted with blood.
Emily.
Marlene couldn’t stop screaming.
